ok, so trevor and jake have jumped into the discussion and they both did a good job. anyone else have something to say about either picture?

the american gothic painting was a man and his wife standing in front of a small house....the pitch fork in the mans hand was to symbolize manual labor of the time....the small house is a house in Eldon, Iowa close to where Grant Wood lived....the house is a Gothic revival style house indicated by the top window in the shape of a medeival pointed arch....thats where the name of the painting came from....when he first finished the painting it was revaled at The Art Institue of Chicago he got 3rd place and 300 dollars for it....Trevor Ingle

I believe this is a symbol that familys were in desperate times and could not bring in a steady income, if they were able to bring in any….
